Our team is hiring a Master Scheduler at Ontic Chatsworth office.
The Master Scheduler is a senior-level individual contributor role responsible for development, management, and execution of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) in a highly regulated aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures that production schedules align with material readiness, capacity constraints, engineering releases, and customer delivery commitments. The position requires advanced planning expertise, ERP proficiency, and the ability to proactively manage risk within complex supply chains.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, publish, and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) using Visual ERP based on contract demand, forecasts, and inventory strategies.
- Analyze order feasibility based on capacity, material availability, engineering readiness, and quality status.
- Integrate sales orders into Visual to drive accurate scheduling and ensure alignment between demand and production.
- Perform finite capacity planning across work centers and value streams to support delivery commitments.
- Apply bottleneck management and Theory of Constraints (TOC) principles to optimize throughput and flow.
- Maintain total demand visibility and drive Clear-to-Build (CTB) status by identifying shortages and coordinating resolution with Procurement.
- Balance production demand with inventory objectives to prevent both shortages and excess.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality to prevent material holds, disposition delays, or configuration errors.
- Control and execute effectivity dates for ECNs and ECOs to avoid disruption to active production orders.
- Participate in customer meetings related to delivery status, schedule risk, and recovery planning.
- Support Sales and Customer Service by maintaining accurate lead times and promise dates.
- Work with Value Stream leadership and Sales to develop and validate forecast demand requirements.
- Conduct monthly forecast maintenance, analysis, and revisions.
- Identify scheduling process gaps and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and delivery reliability.
- Determine production priorities when labor, capacity, or materials are constrained.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or technical degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of Master Scheduling or 7+ years of production planning and scheduling experience or a combination of both in manufacturing; aerospace experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced experience working with ERP/MRP systems (Visual preferred).
- Strong understanding of capacity planning, demand management, and material planning.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communication across all organizational levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- APICS CPIM certification a plus.
