Job Description

This permanent role within the Pre-Flight Department focuses on preparing newly built aircraft for customer acceptance. You will perform and certify all operations carried out between final assembly and delivery, ensuring the aircraft is airworthy, compliant, and fully functional. Working on leading Canadian-built aircraft, you will use your M2 AME license and troubleshooting expertise to support engine runs, systems checks, and documentation in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all preflight operations on aircraft between final assembly and customer acceptance, including functional checks and engine runs, using the necessary tools and equipment.
  • Carry out and certify work associated with the building of an aircraft from early development stages through to final assembly and pre-delivery activities.
  • Conduct detailed inspections of aircraft systems and structures as required by internal procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Complete all required inspection reports, log entries, and related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Apply troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve mechanical and system issues identified during preflight and engine run operations.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals to perform work to specification.
  • Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, maintaining a high standard of professionalism on the shop floor.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with other team members in the production and preflight process.
  • Use rigging skills to adjust and verify proper operation of flight controls and related systems.
  • Support continuous improvement of preflight processes by identifying issues and suggesting practical solutions.

Essential Skills

  • Valid M2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME-M2) license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar aircraft maintenance or preflight role.
  • Proven troubleshooting experience on aircraft systems and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a professional, team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Willingness and ability to successfully complete a background check as part of the hiring process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a production or OEM aircraft environment.
  • Familiarity with rigging of flight controls and related systems.
  • Comfort working in a structured, procedure-driven environment with detailed documentation requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.

Why Work Here?

You will join a premier Canadian aircraft manufacturer with a clean, modern production environment and stable, permanent off-shift opportunities. The role offers overtime pay after 8 hours per day, premium pay for afternoon and night shifts, and enhanced weekend rates with time-and-a-half on Saturdays and double time on Sundays. For eligible employees working at the Waterloo location, an additional travel premium may be available based on the incremental distance from home compared to another designated worksite, providing extra compensation for longer commutes. You benefit from clear procedures, strong operational support, and the chance to work on advanced aircraft programs while building long-term career stability.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, clean, and bright shop floor production environment with a focus on OEM aircraft manufacturing and preflight operations. You will work permanently on an off-shift schedule from Monday to Friday, with afternoon shifts running from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm and night shifts from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. The environment is structured and procedure-driven, with access to the necessary tools and equipment to perform preflight checks, rigging, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities. Overtime opportunities are available, with overtime pay after 8 hours per day and premium rates for weekend work.
