Position Summary
Responsible for the purchase, delivery, and inventory management of raw materials, indirect materials, and services, in accordance with the requirements generated by the MRP system and end users. The Buyer ensures the timely acquisition of products or services from known supply sources. Additionally, the Buyer may resolve issues related to the accuracy and completeness of requests, timely delivery, or payment to suppliers
Responsibilities
Place regular, miscellaneous, and/or plant-required purchase orders in the Purchasing System according to company policies.
Receive and send purchase orders, as well as receive confirmations for updating them in the system.
Assist with specific functions, such as material quotes, purchasing specific products, material tracking, and direct dealings with suppliers, among others.
Place all daily requisitions.
Cancel and expedite materials according to the delivery plan to cover production and inventory control needs.
Provide support for the return of rejected materials, following up on MRR and/or credit notes.
Communicate and complete procedures with suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials.
Assist with general administrative activities.
Communicate to the Materials team about material delays.
Prepare complex reports and analyses by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Monitor and evaluate the suppliers ability to meet all company procurement requirements and ensure that relevant technical and quality issues receive appropriate attention to ensure compliance.
Maintain accurate lead times for assigned products.
Select suppliers for lower-cost items or items of limited scope and complexity and negotiate price, delivery, quality, and service.
Develop alternative sources of supply by identifying and researching potential suppliers.
Inform appropriate personnel about the suppliers imminent breach of contractual agreements that may delay production or delivery.
- Facilitate problem resolution by organizing and participating in conferences and/or meetings between suppliers and company personnel
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in international business, Trade Relations, International Trade or Related Field
3 – 5 years of experience in the automotive sector.
Intermediate English
Experience and/or exposure to supply chain and manufacturing concepts and methodologies.
Purchasing and negotiation methods, principles, and concepts
Industry practices, general business operations, and policies
Legal and regulatory requirements related to contracting
