Job Description:
The Training Coordinator coordinates technical and non-technical training programs for the Technical Operations organization. Provides support in the safe and efficient operation of the vast and complex network of systems required for the worlds largest air traffic control and navigation system. Assists with managing the non-technical training program, which includes administrative, hazardous material, logistics, managerial, office automation, safety, and human relations courses.
Duties Help

Duties contribute towards providing reliable and safe FAA services to the flying public. All duties of a Training Coordinator are directly related to ensuring employees within the Technical Operation organization are trained properly, and their qualifications and certifications, where applicable, are documented correctly. The Training Coordinator reports to the Operation Support Manager.

Performs multiple and varying assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team and may perform some leadership functions for small projects/programs or other work activities. Maintains knowledge of FAA training requirements, policies and processes. Demonstrates considerable independence in planning time and assisting the Senior Training Coordinator plan and use assigned resources to accomplish projects/programs/activities. Ensures all prerequisite training, enrollment and pre-course counseling forms are completed in a timely manner. Consults with the coordinator or manager to identify training needs and translate them into training opportunities and/or training plans.

Applies experience and advanced knowledge to plan and accomplish assignments. Assignments may require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines. Typical assignments may include: compiling, tracking and analyzing data to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; providing guidance to less-experienced professionals in day-to-day operations; identifying, analyzing, and recommending solutions for complex/difficult problems; and recommending improvements to systems and processes.

Collaborates, with the coordinator and management to develop comprehensive training material for non-technical training required to meet current needs which cannot be satisfied by training available from within the FAA, computer based instruction mode, or out-of-agency. Reviews, evaluates, advises, tracks and reports employees training and certification status on systems and services that support the National Airspace System (NAS). Ensures the coordinator and management are kept apprised of the organizations non-technical and technical training needs and trends.

Contacts typically are internal and external, with regular contacts among major subdivisions and LOBs/SOs, customers, and other external parties to share information about the FAA and explain the applications of policies and procedures. Established policies/ procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow considerable discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es) or recommend new approaches. Assignments often require reviews of policies and precedents under the limited guidance of the Senior Training Coordinator and/or management.

Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Refers to managers problems that require their attention. May help them develop and recommend solutions. Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G, FG/GS . Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. 10/11

Specialized experience is: Experience reviewing, evaluating, tracking, and reporting employee records and statuses on systems and services that support the National Airspace Systems (NAS).
